
Brazil believes that using BIM can reduce public construction costs by up to 9.7% in the coming years
The Ministry of Infrastructure published on March 12 the rules that address the criteria of mandatory use of the use of the BIM methodology in works of regional airports.
Together with the national BIM BR strategy, the Federal Government intends to reduce construction costs in the public sector by 9.7% over the next seven years. In addition, the Ministry of Economy believes that with the dissemination of BIM-related processes and technologies, the GDP of the Brazilian construction sector will increase by 28.9% by 2028.
It is noteworthy that today Brazil has 17 airport projects in execution, adopting or with the provision for the adoption of the BIM methodology, covering all regions of the country. Bim projects total about R$ 700 million.
